We're here! WISE Portland officially launched on January 21st with the chapter's first virtual event for the community. A Fireside Chat: An Introduction to WISE featured a Q&A session between Brook Olzendam (court-side reporter for the Trail Blazers) and Langely McNeal (former pro-skier and co founder of Summit), as well as a special appearance from Jill Keuhland and Molly Troupe of Portland's much loved women-owned distillery Freeland Spirits, and an introduction to the WISE Portland board. The event was organized by the WISE Portland board and working committees, who are actively planning a full calendar of 2021 chapter events. 

“We’re incredibly honored and excited to bring Women in Sports and Events to Portland and Oregon,” said Diane Penny, Senior Vice President/General Manager of NBC Sports Northwest who will serve as President of the Portland chapter. “WISE Portland will provide professional development opportunities for women in the area with learning, networking and mentorship programs. These opportunities will benefit not only the women and men who participate, but all who are committed to workplaces of equity and inclusion.  We’re actively recruiting new members as we build momentum."

The drive to launch WISE in Oregon has been led by women business leaders and several Portland-based organizations active in the sports and events industry. WISE Portland founding partners include NBC Sports Northwest, Hillsboro Hops, Portland Trail Blazers, Travel Portland, Oregon State Athletics, and Sport Oregon. WISE Portland joins 27 major cities across the nation to host a WISE chapter.

WISE Portland's next event will be a Members Only Happy Hour taking place on February 17th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm- more information to be published soon. We will also be launching our monthly E-newsletter at the end of February- join our mailing list to stay informed on our events and membership community.
